PROJECT{S}

Summary of theHAPPYlife Project{s}:

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

ECO*LIFE project:
The ECO*LIFE project will focus on exploring the idea of living our lives in a manner more conscious of the earth and our impact on it.  What are we responsible for individually when it comes to the health of our earth and our environments?  How can small changes we make in our lives impact our footprint? Eco-consciousness aside, how can we simply be more attuned to the earth and experience life in a more connected, vital way?

MINIMALIST project:
The MINIMALIST project is the result of a combination of new convictions.  Living rightly with the earth, being tired of the unhealthiness of the emerging consumer consciousness that has become so engrained in all of us.  It is about simplifying our lives in a beneficial way.  Not living in opulence and extravagance or measuring life by the amount of stuff we have.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-20)

HEALTH project:
The HEALTH project will focus on our health and our physical journey’s through losing weight and being active in new and exciting ways. We believe that we all have an inner athlete.  Debbie personally has struggled with weight issues for many years and through healthy eating and running, has lost over 40 pounds to date and has emerged as a new healthier, happier person.

ADVENTURE project:
The ADVENTURE project will focus on experimenting with making life into an “adventure” in every sense. Wikipedia defines adventure as “an exciting or unusual experience…that can also lead to gains in knowledge.” The pursuit of new experiences, new pleasure, new pains that stretch your mental acuity and/or your worldview, the highs and lows of the human experience…that is all adventure, if you ask us.

“Life is either a great adventure…or nothing” – Helen Keller

“We should come home from adventures, and perils, and discoveries every day with new experience and character” – Henry David Thoreau

WRITING project:
The WRITING project is an outlet for our creative expression through the use and manipulation of words.  Both Nick and Debbie have always found writing as a passion and a critical vehicle for expressing themselves and becoming attuned to new and profound insights about themselves as well as life in general.

“The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe.” – Gustave Flaubert

DO*GOOD project:
The DO*GOOD project is a place for us to focus on enriching the lives of others.  There is no adventure, no experience, no project more important in life than expressing love and care to others. Regardless of if you become enriched through the experience of caring for another (which undoubtedly you will) it is still the single most impactful thing that you can do in your life.

“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.” – Mother Theresa.
